Our History
1936 Established as Ueda Chemical Research Institute.
Began manufacturing and sales of starch processing products.
1939 Became the first in Japan to industrialize the production of bacterial α-amylase.
1951 Successfully achieved the first production of bacterial α-amylase in Japan using the tank cultivation method.
1960 Formed a partnership with Hankyu Kyoei Bussan Co., Ltd.
1963 Established the Maizuru Factory.
1982 Built and relocated to a new factory in Maizuru City.
1993 Became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hankyu Kyoei Bussan Co., Ltd. and changed the company name to
Hankyu Bioindustry Co., Ltd.
2002 The shares were transferred to Nagata Sangyo.
Relocated the Neyagawa Factory to Shiso City.
Changed the company name to HBI Enzymes Inc.
2009 Formed a capital and business alliance with Mitsubishi Chemical Foods.
2011 Completion of the new cultivation building at the Maizuru Factory
2012 The head office factory and Maizuru Factory obtained FSSC22000 certification.
2016 Completion of the new purification building at the Maizuru Factory.
2017 Expanded the culture building at the main factory.
2021 Maizuru factory cultivation unit 2 completed.
2022 A new warehouse is completed at the Maizuru factory.
